you're taking storytelling courses
when you should be living stories
I am now online for over one year ⏤
but 2 days ago I met the best storyteller yet.
the funny part though...
he wasn’t a ghostwriter.
he wasn’t an entrepreneur.
he wasn’t a brand specialist.
he wasn’t even online, I met him in a caffee.
still, he had this magnetic energy,
people gathered around him...
and listened.
to the question:
“what is the one song that can’t escape your mind?”
he didn’t give a basic answer because he “likes” the artists...
nonono.
he started talking about a birthday party when he was 6.
how there he fell in love with this one artist.
later on, he added a humor,
saying that nowadays he thinks that his music is kind of a**.
and wrapped it all up saying that this artist now has a new album.
he captured the room with that.
people associated his answer with his story.
and it is still memorable till this day.
on my way back home,
I had a battle in my mind...
“what was his secret?”
“why did he had this energy?”
“how can I tell stories like that?”
clarity only hit the day after,
when I had time to review the inner battle.
his magic recipe wasn’t his words...
it was his experience.
how tf could he ever tell these stories
without experiencing things.
and these don’t have to be crazy shark stories.
start with something like...
when I was 9, I got my first ever C,
the whole day I walked on the schoolyard,
questioning my existence until I discovered...
I never had this intense feeling of discomfort.
until I found out that life isn’t all sunshine lollipop.
that’s a bad example, I know,
but it’s an experience I can use for talking about discomfort and how it grows your resilience level.
at the end of the day, why add fluff to the room...
when you can be memorable.
we create miracles.
